This item was just what I needed to be able to use my older Sony digital DV-8 videocamera (which uses mini-tapes) with my newer Sony multi-function DVD recorder. It took me awhile to figure out that this was the cable I needed to make it work, and the people at Best Buy weren't any help, so I ended up buying an S-video cable they recommended that didn't complete the connection before I found this correct one I needed buried in the literature.Do not take this product at the time. It's nice how well things work when you have the right equipment!.
